The Armour

In life, we put on an armour. Not only the Armour of God, but an armour for ourselves. An armour that keeps us from getting hurt. An armour that protects us from attacks. An armour that shields us from getting injured when we fall down, and to make sure we can crawl up again.

The different parts of the armour protects different areas.

The sabaton protects the feet, keeping them safe when we travel to places that we need to go. When we need to leave our comfort zone to face the harsh realities outside.

The gloves protects the palms and fingers, keeping them covered as they grasp the weapons for fighting. Fighting to survive everyday of our lives, with the help of the weapons around us.

The poleyn, cuisses, couter, vambrace and pualdron protects the knees, thighs, elbows, forearms and shoulders. They keep the limbs secure as they take on the job of maneuvering our daily activities, our daily struggles and fights that need the strenght and movement of our limbs.

The cuiraas, the back and front breastplate, protects the chest, where most of the vital organs are located. Should any of the organs be pierced or injured, you're done for. Most of all, the heart- that pumps our life blood every moment we are living.

Of course, we have the helmet as well, which protects the head. The head, which houses the brain, where our thoughts and our actions are planned day in and out. If the brain is hurt, we'll just be a living shell of what we are.

Without the armour, we will never get through with life. Whether the armour is real or not, most, if not all of us, wear it to keep ourselves safe and sane.

But you know the most important part of the armour?

The visor.

It shields all emotions from the people around us, be it enemies or friends. All the fear, the terror, the pain, the hurt is hidden, and all you see is an impassive resemblance of a face, no emotion, impassionate, impenetrable, steady and strong.

Have you ever noticed? People only push up their visor when they feel secure, when they feel that they are among people they can trust, when they have no emotions to hide.

They only push up their visor when they are willing to reveal themselves.
